Exoplanets and Kepler-452b

Exoplanets

An exoplanet is a planet that orbits a star outside of our solar system.  In our solar system, Earth is one of eight planets orbiting our star, the sun.  Scientist are continually studying stars and have found thousands of exoplanets.  As of February 2021, the confirmed exoplanet count was up to 4414 planets.  Every day scientist are learning new information about current exoplanets and making new and exciting discoveries.

Kepler-452b

Kepler-452b is an exoplanet orbiting the sun like star Kepler-452 about 1,402 light-years from Earth.  This discovery was found using the Kepler Space Telescope in 2015.  It is a potentially rocky Earth like planet discovered orbiting within the habitable zone. Although Scientist do not know exactly what it would be like to stand on Kepler-425b, they can use many factor to hypothesis that the gravity would feel about twice as strong as on Earth.

Creature Adaptations

An adaptation is a way an animal's body helps it survive, or live, in its environment.  There are many different habitats on Earth and yet animals live everywhere on Earth. Some places on Earth are very hot and some are very cold. Some places on Earth have a lot of water and plants, and other places have very little water and few plants.  Animals can live in many different places in the world because they have special adaptations to the area they live in.

Penguins are a great example of animal adaptations.  They have adapted to living in cold weather and their wings have adapted to swimming not flying.  Many other animals use camouflage as an adaptation.  Below, try to find the owl, leaf tailed gecko and tiger.
